Karoline Skaar Amthor

Director - Head of Fish Health/ Veterinarian

Karoline Skaar Amthor is Director of Fish Health at the Norwegian Shipowners' Association. In this role, she is responsible for fish health matters related to the well boat segment, a vital part of the Norwegian and international seafood industry. She will work closely with member companies, public authorities and other stakeholders, serving as a key link between industry, science and regulatory authorities.

Karoline joined the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association in June 2026. Prior to this, she spent several years working on regulatory issues within the veterinary field, with a focus on fish welfare, at Seafood Norway. She has also led commercial efforts related to the development of microbial products for fish, worked as an adviser on fish health and welfare with a focus on cleaner fish, and served as Head of Health and Environment at one of Norway’s largest private research stations.

She brings broad experience from the aquaculture industry, with fish health and welfare as a consistent focus throughout her career. Karoline holds a veterinary degree from the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science in Oslo and a Master's degree in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) in Ås.
