Gaute works as an advisor in the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association’s Department of Policy and Analysis with special responsibility for offshore wind, but also works on other relevant political matters.  

He has a Master's degree in Political Science from Aarhus University in Denmark. Prior to joining the association in 2023, Gaute worked for five years for the parliamentary group of the Conservative Party (Høyre) in various roles addressing different themes, and latterly as communications consultant for the Party’s labour and finance committees. Before the general election in 2021 he led the secretariat of programme committee tasked with writing the Party’s election manifesto.
